Could Annabelle replace Chucky as the most well known possessed doll this Halloween?
For better or for worse, people are going to be quoting Anchorman 2 for years to come, but can it, and it’s catchy one liners, live up to the original or is it just another sequel that should never have been made.
Finding himself being overshadowed by his wife Veronica, anchorman Ron Burgundy takes an opportunity to change the way news is reported forever by joining up with the worlds first ever 24 hour news channel GNN. Will the anchorman and his friends be able to thrive in the competitive new work environment or have they become outdated?
For any fan of the original, this film isn’t going to disappoint. It’s full of the same well timed catchphrases and witty dialogue that made the first one so popular, but if you didn’t like the first film than this sequel will do little to change your mind.
The film is a little too long, at two hours long it feels like the movie would have benefited from a shorter running time. Even though the film drags a bit towards the middle, there are moments later in the film that make up for it.
One of the best things about the movie is how the characters make fun of the way news is today, even making valid points about some of the problems facing the industry without ever becoming too serious or preachy.
A lot of people will probably be surprised at how a piece of valid social commentary is seamlessly slipped in to the ridiculous gags that fans of the film know and love.
Will Ferrell and friends have managed to make a proper sequel that doesn’t rely on or try to repeat the story of the first one and it paid off as this sequel is arguably a superior film.
Funny to the end, Anchorman 2 should definitely please its existing fans while possibly bringing in new ones.

After months of speculation about whether Wonder Woman would even be in the upcoming sequel to Man of Steel, it has been confirmed that Gal Gadot, best known for her role in the Fast and the furious franchise, has got the role.
First off, even if Gadot is excellent in the role, this cast is getting pretty crowded and with a movie that now has at least three superheroes, with more rumoured to appear, what hope do any of the supporting characters have. Even though as a fan I have personally always preferred DC to Marvel, I have to admit Marvel studios have done a better job of creating a shared cinematic universe. They may be calling this a sequel to Man of Steel, but it is looking more and more like a rushed Justice League movie.
As for the casting, it’s hard to deny that there are plenty of actresses that would have been better for the role. Hopefully Gadot’s audition was amazing and she deserved the part, but it seems like casting a young, model with little acting experience might not be the best idea considering Wonder Woman has to appeal to both women and men. It’s a common complaint in movies that really slim women are cast to preform really elaborate fight scenes that no one actually believes they’d be able to do. If she is going to have to stand next to Batman and Superman she better beef up and look the part. On that topic, the costume is probably going to need a serious update if they want it to be taken seriously in this gritty DC universe. Short shorts probably aren’t going to cut it.
A lot of fans wanted Gina Carano to play the Amazon warrior, which would have been a pretty interesting casting considering that Carano is a MMA fighter. Gadot and Carano both come from the Fast and the Furious films, but it’s easy to see why Carano would be the more fitting choice and she actually does resemble both the comic book character and the actress who played Wonder Woman in the TV series. Personally, I thought they should go older and cast a more experienced actress like Kate Beckinsale. Still, since the casting is official it’s only far that Gadot is given a chance to prove everyone wrong and hopefully Wonder Woman’s first live action movie appearance will be memorable for the right reasons.

If you thought that Jeepers Creepers 2 getting a sequel was surprising then prepare for an even bigger shock as a sequel to the 1946 Christmas classic It’s a wonderful Life may be on the way.
According to Variety, the movie, which will be called It’s a Wonderful Life: The Rest of the Story, is expected to hit cinemas in time for Christmas 2015.
The film will be a collaboration between Star Partners and Hummingbird Productions and will star Karolyn Grimes who played Zulu, George Bailey’s daughter, in the original.
The story will focus on George Bailey Jr, grandson of the original lead character, who is shown what the world would be like without him by Zulu who is now an angel.
Though it’s not exactly a remake, the plot is so similar to the original that it might as well be. It’s hard to imagine a modern version of this classic tale being able to live up to the original, so let’s just be optimistic and hope that it doesn’t ruin the first one.
Looks like the rumours were false and Star Partners and Hummingbird Productions don’t own the rights and therefore can’t actually make the sequel.

Check out the latest trailer for the upcoming sequel to Anchorman.
The role of Mary Jane Watson in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has been cast, but will the new red head be able to compete with Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy?
After some negotiating the part of MJ Watson was given to Shailene Woodley, who previously played one of George Clooney’s daughters in the Descendants and had a leading role in The Secret Life of an American Teenager.
It initially seemed that scheduling issues would force Woodley to choose between The Amazing Spider-man and, her upcoming film, Divergent, but this turned out not to be an issue as Mary Jane will not be a prominent part of the Spider-Man sequel. However, Woodley would play a bigger part in the third film, which is even more evidence that the death of Gwen Stacy will play out in the second instalment.
Oh Peter, if only you had listened to Gwen’s father instead of just pretending you were going to listen to avoid dealing with Gwen’s grief.
What do you think? Are you a Spider-Man fan? Do you think Woodley will be able to compete with Emma Stone (Wood versus Stone)? Which of Spidey’s love interests is your favourite, Gwen or MJ? If there’s one thing that everybody remembers about the original Planet of the Apes movie it’s the Statue of Liberty scene were Taylor discovers that there is no home planet for him to return to as this ape filled land is actually Earth’s grim future. It’s a great twist and sets up for the time travelling sequels, which explore the rise of the apes, the fall of humanity and the eventual destruction of Earth. However, all of this stuff isn’t shown in a linear view, but rather a circular one ending, not with Earth blowing up, but with the apes rising. Time travel has, from the first film adaptation, been a crucial part of The Planet of the Apes, so why won’t it be part of the new movie series?
Rick Jaffa, who co-wrote The rise of the Planet of the Apes and the upcoming sequel Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, has spoken out about the decision to not include time travel in this telling of the ape saga. In an interview with Total Film he said ‘it’s the one big element that we made a conscious decision not to explore in the first one, and we were worried that there might be some backlash in the science fiction community because of it. When the story first came together we were very, very excited, and yet before we pitched it, I thought, “the one thing missing though is time travel. But it’s not necessary for this particular telling”’.
The origin of The Planet of the Apes story is not the original film, but rather a French novel called La Planète des singes. Interesting this story doesn’t actually involve time travel at all and ends in a way similar to that of the 2001 Tim Burton adaptation of The Planet of the Apes, though it is less confusing than Burton’s version. Should the latest adaption of the book stick with the science fiction time travel angle, that the older films are famous for, or is it a good thing that they are leaving it out?

Liam Neeson is about to show even more people why he shouldn’t be messed with in the upcoming sequel to the 2008 film Taken.
A trailer for the film has been released as well as some details about the plot. This time around Neeson’s ex-wife will be the one who is taken and the culprit is the son of one of the men killed in the first film. The story is set one year after the events of the previous film.
Not surprisingly the trailer shows that this instalment will be no less action packed than the first, but will it also live up to the success of its predecessor? Though it paints an exciting picture the trailer shows no signs of any emotional or intellectual depth, one of the main criticisms of the first. However, seeing as Taken was a huge success in spite of this, it may be a mistake to change something that clearly isn’t broken.

The Farrelly brothers have announced that a sequel to the 1994 comedy film Dumb and Dumber will start filming in September and will feature the original stars Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels. This news comes just in time to knock Anchorman 2 off its pedestal, if it’s true that is.
While it is entirely possible that a sequel is indeed in the works, I am concerned about what date the announcement was made on. Peter Farrelly told ComingSoon.net, about the sequel, yesterday, April Fool’s Day, at a press event for his film The Three Stooges. Still, it does seem as though the information is indeed real, which means we can expect to see Harry and Lloyd back doing stupid things very soon.
However, it has been eighteen years since the last film, not counting the prequel, Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry met Lloyd, which didn’t involve the Farrelly brothers or the original cast. Once again I’m left wondering whether or not a sequel would ruin the original, but for some reason, with this one, I don’t really think it matters. Let’s face it, the film isn’t exactly remembered for its riveting story and complex sub-plots, it’s slapstick. Plus, considering how surprising the announcement is, I don’t think expectations are going to be unreasonably high, so bring it on.
