New DmC (Devil May Cry 5) Trailer

Today was the start of E3 2011.  The first two days are normally when all the big announcements are made and yes this year was no exception.  The NGP was renamed; it’s now the PlayStation Vita.  In the mix of the huge announcements I found a trailer for DmC (Devil May Cry 5).  Apparently the trailer was put on Capcom’s E3 YouTube page a few days ago, so expect them to release a statement by the end of E3.

After much thought I had begun to accept the idea of the ‘new’ Dante, I was even starting to get excited about the game.  Now that I’ve seen the new trailer, any fears I had are gone.  The game looks really impressive.  They added colour, it’s not as dark and gloomy as the debut trailer was.  I respect them for keeping his hair dark, I think sticking to their guns shows that they care about the project.  They did play around with it a bit though.  From what I can tell, Dante’s coat glows red and his hair turns white when using the devil trigger.  I couldn’t see the patch of white that was present in the first trailer, but it does seem like they’re linking the white hair to his demon side, which will likely get stronger as the game goes on, thus giving him white hair or at least the patch.  Though they didn’t change the colour, they did change the style of Dante’s hair.  It’s not a significant change but the sides are now shaved and he looks a lot less emo.

The trailer also hinted at the plot of the game.  As Dante walks, messages appear on the walls.  These messages explain that the world Dante is in is an illusion.  This links back to the first trailer when Dante was shown in a mental institution.  He is electrocuted in the institution and is then shown suffering the same shock outside during battle.  I think it’s fair to say that the plot revolves around Dante being trapped an illusion and having to break free.  The question now is; who is keeping him and why are they doing it?

The trailer largely focuses on gameplay, which looks great.  The extendable weapon, from the first trailer, makes a reappearance and is reminiscent of the devil bringer from Devil May Cry 4.  The design for the demons fits in with those of early games; this is good because it really makes it feel like its part of the same series.  Devil May Cry is probably my favourite game series and I have to say that I’m really happy with what I’ve seen of this game.  At first I was nervous about it, but now I’m just excited.

What do you think?  Do you like the trailer?  Are you a fan of Dante’s new look?  Let me know by voting and leaving a comment below.  Also don’t forget to subscribe.

It looks okay. It better then than the first trailer that was released a while back. There just something about this new Dante I don’t know what it is but I just don’t like him as much as the original. The game plot is really interesting and I like the way the words appear as he walks by it amazing.

    • Yeah he doesn’t have the same edge as the original, but hopefully he’s pretty cool in his own right. The whole idea has warmed on me. The plot is a lot like Bayonetta though, which I wouldn’t mind if they just admitted that they liked the game, but they just stole ideas and then criticised Bayonetta. Thanks for the comment.

I hope Ninja theory make a clear story about Dante’s Past….

From where he come from….How his parents meet…..From where, the “point” dante and vergil started to “walked” separated……
And deeper personality for badass dante too.XD

Abt gameplay…., I hope they still improved it more….

    just Can’t wait for it ! 😀

    • Yeah I definately agree, if they’re going back to the start of the story then they should be detailed about it. I think the gameplay looks pretty impressive, but it still needs a bit of polishing. Thanks for the comment.
