The creators of Being Human have noticed that the shows fans are extremely active online, because of this they have decided to make an online spinoff series called Becoming Human.
Becoming Human follows Adam a 40 something year old vampire trapped in the body of a 16 year old, not a bad deal considering he can go out during the day. Adam, who was first seen in the second episode of the third season of Being Human, Adam’s Family, must try to live a normal life. All does not go as planned as he meets up with a werewolf and a ghost. Sound predictable? Don’t worry it’s completely different (sarcasm), the werewolf is a girl and the ghost is a boy. Another similarity is that Matt, the ghost, was murdered and doesn’t remember how it happened or who did it.
Despite the near copy and paste characters, the shows are very different. However this is mainly due to the age gap between the stars of each show. Becoming Human is sort of a Scooby doo version of Being Human. Some people may like it, but it will never be anywhere near as good, or interesting, as Being Human. Episodes go on for about 12 minutes and, unless you like in the UK, you won’t be able to watch them on the BBC website, but don’t despair as they can be found on YouTube. So far 2 episodes, out of 9, have been released.
Despite not being impressed by Becoming Human so far, I must say that it being made is a massive gift to fans. It isn’t very often that fans are listened to like that. The series expands on the Being Human universe, which is exactly what fans wanted. The online series stars Craig Roberts as Adam (vampire), Leila Mimmack as Christa (werewolf) and Josh Brown as Matt (ghost), new episodes are uploaded every Sunday and can be viewed on BBC Three’s website.
