Being Erica, being remade

Hit Canadian show being Erica is about to get remade, not once but twice.  Inspired by the popularity of the original series ABC have decided to make a US version.  Being Erica star, Erin Karpluk, says she is excited about the idea, but would love to see them cast a male in the lead role, ‘In the back of my head, I’ve always thought if anyone was to redo this show, I’d like to see how it would change if it was a man…. Being Eric’.

The UK will also be making a remake of the show, although they do plan to vary from the original.  Their show will be titled You Again, and will follow an NHS worker, called Zoe, who lives in Glasgow.  This version is rumoured to be completely different, which means there will be no therapists.  Seems like it cuts out a big part of the story arc, then again it does only have to last six episodes (it’s a mini series).  If it is completely different, then my dreams of having an episode, or movie, were all three leads meet is over, the same can be said if the American version is too similar to the Canadian one.

What do you think?  Should these remakes be made?  Who should star in them?
