Teen Wolf Remake

MTV is jumping on board the remake try by releasing a TV series of the 1985 film Teen Wolf.  This is not the first Teen Wolf spin-off, in 1986 an animated TV show based on the film was made; the cartoon had some significant plot changes for instance Scott being a werewolf was a secret unlike in the movie where it was common knowledge.

The movie also had a sequel.  However the second film, Teen Wolf Too, didn’t follow Scott (Michael J Fox) like the first one had, instead it’s about his cousin Todd (Jason Bateman).  The sequel was received negatively by critics.

Another show that is often compared to teen wolf is Big Wolf on Campus.  Though it is not an official spin-off from the movie there are so many similarities that I’m pretty sure someone could sue, probably not who you think as Big Wolf on Campus is actually closer to the plot of the cartoon than the movie.

Werewolves are rising in popularity, they haven’t over taken vampires yet but there’s an infinite amount of time left for them to do so, as the vampire werewolf debate will no doubt out live us all.  The new Teen Wolf will be played by Tyler Posey.  Taylor Tyler similar names and similar roles I smell a pattern, and I don’t even have superhuman smelling.

Judging by the promo, there are a lot of changes to the plot.  The main character, who will be called Scott McCall instead of Scott Howard, becomes a werewolf because he is bitten, were as in the movie it is a curse that was put on his family hence his cousin having the same affliction.  I know that there are a lot of remakes out there, and I’m sure there’s thousand more on the way, but this doesn’t actually look half bad.  In fact I’d go as far as saying it looks half good.  I might be wrong but give it a try you never know.

What do you think of remakes?

    • I don’t actually remember the original film, just little bits of it here and there. Definately give the remake a chance though it may be good.
