Devil May Cry: Reboot

Okay I’m sure Devil May Cry fans have already heard about this but I’m such a big fan of the series that I had to report its murder.  Well it all started when Capcom announced that the latest instalment of the DMC franchise would be a complete reboot.  In other words it has no connection with the original story.

This was a blow to Devil May Cry fans, as there is still so much story to tell; like did Dante survive, what happened to Nero’s arm and who the hell gave Dante that annoying double sided coin?  As if a reboot wasn’t bad enough, images and a trailer were released and they showed ‘the new Dante’ he’s basically the opposite of the original Dante, he’s emo and has black hair with a little white patch on it.

Many fans jumped to the conclusion that this was simply another prequel, but it soon came out that it was a re-imagining of the series.  Capcom handed the franchise over to the under experienced gaming company Ninja Theory.  This decision upset Devil May Cry’s creator Hideki Kamiya.  Capcom said that they expected fans to hate the new design, but they wanted to make Dante appeal to a more western audience, which is probably why he has a union jack on his sleeve.  Dante’s new look came about when Capcom told Ninja Theory designers to come up with a design that they thought would make Capcom angry.

Take a look at the trailer and let me know what you think.

    • Really? Each to there own I guess, but if I’m honest, now that I’ve had time to get used to the idea, I’m really looking forward to seeing what they’re going to do with the game. Thanks for the comment.
