Over the years the gaming industry has evolved a lot, it’s undeniable. With each new generation of consoles comes advancements that, for the most part, improve the gaming experience, but what’s next?
Even though the PlayStation 4 still hasn’t been officially announced by Sony, there have been rumours about it for months and the latest comes from the Wall Street Journal. In their article they claim that the upcoming console was almost created without a disc drive. This would mean that games would have to be downloaded rather than bought physically in shops. Though the article says that ‘Sony Corp. considered but ultimately rejected a download-only scheme for its next videogame console, people familiar with the matter said, opting to include optical disk drives rather than break with a decades-old model in the industry’.
Breaking away from the model that people have come to know is one thing, but imagine the effect this move would have had on game shops. Removing the ability to buy discs would completely destroy those, already struggling, shops. Plus, there are some people that don’t have access to credit cards and therefore can’t download games, won’t somebody please think of the children. Let us not forget about those, myself included, that like having the physical copy of the game, which can never been taken away by virus’s (though they can be stud on and lost). Another incentive to maintain the use of a disc drive is the collectors additions, which often come with posters or other physical extras on top of the added bonuses in the game.
Though the report says that disc drives will be included in the next PlayStation, it almost wasn’t which means that companies like Sony believe that the disc is on its way out and with movie and television series all available to be downloaded online it isn’t hard to see where they’re coming from. Still, it appears that the digital take over isn’t going to be happening in the near future as the PS4 will come with its very own disc drive, which you can store pancakes in if you’d rather download all your games.
What do you think? Would you like to see a move away from discs? Do you prefer to download games or buy them in a shop? What other things could you store in a disc drive, besides discs and pancakes? For a while it didn’t really look like there was going to be a third Men in Black film, but after a ten year absence Agents J and K have returned to the big screen.
Regardless of how you felt about the second film, if you enjoyed the first, you should give this sequel a shot. The story picks up years after the events of the second film with an old foe of K’s escaping from an alien prison. When word spreads J, seeing K is hiding something, begins to tire of the seemingly emotionless relationship the two have. Then, with a simple alteration to the timeline, Agent K disappears from the present having now been killed in 1969. J, being the only one who remembers the original timeline, must travel back in time to prevent the change.
Originally the plot seemed like a way to deprive MIB fans of Tommy Lee Jones, who plays the role of K brilliantly, but it quickly became clear that although Jones is physically absence from a large part of the film he is there in spirit, as Josh Brolin has clearly done his research and emulates Jones perfectly. Brolin’s version of K is more open than his older counterpart, which is because an event that causes him to become emotionally distant hasn’t happened yet. His enables J, played by Will Smith, to get to know his partner a little better. Also, despite Brolin in reality being 44, a year older than Will Smith, his character is 29 making him the younger agent. This adds a new interesting twist to their relationship, similar to K discovering the changes that had happened during his absence when he returned in number two.
The plot was interesting and funny, which was somewhat of a surprise as I had prepared myself for 106 minutes of boredom. Though it’s never really clear about why Agent J can remember K in the present, it does give a vague reason, but I’ll let it go because the rest of the plot was interesting and really enjoyable. Seeing MIB in 1969 was like watching an old sci-fi movie, even the aliens were made to look like the ones that would appear in those kinds of films. Time travel is always a really interesting plot device, but it’s also so easy to do wrong. If it’s too complex then you lost most of the audience and you risk making mistakes, if it’s too simplistic then it just won’t feel real. MIB 3 probably would have been close to the too simple side were it not for Griffin, played by Michael Stuhlbarg. Griffin is similar to Doctor Manhattan from Watchmen, except he’s funny and generally a nice guy.
The biggest let down of the film is that Frank, the talking Pug, isn’t in it. Frank appeared in both previous MIB movies, receiving a larger role in the second instalment because of how much audience’s loved his character in the first film. It seems like a strange choice not to give him a part, considering he’s a fan favourite. I guess in a world were Tommy Lee Jones doesn’t even get to appear in the full film, no one is safe. All things considered, Men in Black 3 is a fun, clever and interesting movie that deserves to be given a chance.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been eight years since Anchorman: the Legend of Ron Burgundy hit cinemas and now, just as the near constant quoting was getting old, a sequel is announced.
Will Ferrell made a surprise appearance on the Conan O’Brien show, as Ron Burgundy, where he announced that the long awaited sequel was finally on its way. Over the years, Ferrell has expressed interest in making a sequel to the hit comedy, but he didn’t own the rights and was unable to get the studio to agree, until now.
However, this may not be a good thing. Fans have been waiting for this ever since the credits rolled on number one, so expectations are going to be pretty high. Some of the best films around are great because they were allowed to stand alone, a sequel would have ruined them. That’s not to say all sequels are bad, and this one could be great, but knowing when to stop is a trait that far few people in Hollywood seem to have.
As someone that enjoyed the first movie and has been listening to quotes from it for years, I do hope, particularly for the people who really love this film, that the sequel lives up to their, undoubtedly high, expectation.
What do you think? Are you happy they are finally making the sequel? Do you think that it will live up to the original? Do you annoy your friends by quoting the movie at least once an hour? Screenshots from the upcoming South Park RPG have been released and show a remarkable resemblance to the TV series.
Though not the first South Park game that’s been made, this one is by far the most noteworthy, including another that isn’t even out yet. Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the creators of South Park, approached, game developing company, Obsidian Entertainment, who have previously made games like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, Fallout: New Vegas and Dungeon Siege III, to create the RPG. Stone and Parker, having been criticised for making previous game characters 3D, specified that they wanted to maintain the look of the show and they’ve succeeded.
Stone and Parker are writing the script as well as doing the voices and overseeing the project, which hopefully means that it will not only look like an episode of South Park but will feel like it too. The main characters from the show, Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman, will all appear in the game, as will a large amount of the townspeople. However, the player will not control any of the pre-existing characters, but will instead play as a new, silent, character that will be fully customisable.
Players must meet and befriend South Park citizens as well as go on a, no doubt crazy, quest with the main characters. To check how you are progressing with the people of South Park your character can go to a Facebook like site on their phone. The site will show them which characters they have made friends with.
Like other RPGs, the game will use a class system, which contains five different classes Fighter, Mage, Thief, Cleric and, a class that Cartman makes up for you, Jew. The Jew class is like a Paladin or Monk who will be able to do more powerful attacks the less health he has. The player will travel as part of a group and the game uses a turn based combat system for battles.
The game will be released on the PS3, the Xbox360 and the PC and is set to hit shelves in the second half of 2012. With Stone and Parker being so heavily involved in the game, having complete control of the story, it’s hard not to get excited by these screenshots, maybe this means that, after a string of games you’ve probably never even heard of, we will finally be getting a South Park game that’s good.

By now most fans know that Ashton Kutcher is replacing Charlie Sheen in Two and a Half Men and now we have a poster to prove it.
Let me just start by saying that a poster with three, presumably, naked male actors on it will not draw in the same people that watched the show before Sheen’s departure. The idea was clearly to capitalise on the sex appeal of the new star, which will completely isolate existing fans who are predominantly older males.
Having spoken to many people about Kutcher being cast, I know that there was already doubt as to whether or not he would be able to maintain the same audience as Sheen. However, Kutcher may bring in a different type of audience, a younger generation. Obtaining in a younger audience could be just what the show needs, but the dynamic of the show will change completely, which could very well get rid of the things that made it funny in the first place.

The PSN is now returning to Japan, meaning that it will be officially restored worldwide. So what’s the last thing PlayStation users want to hear? Your console is outdated.
Yes that’s right the PlayStation 4 is on it’s way, or at least that’s what the internet rumours would have you believe. However, Sony has previously stated that they have a 10 year plan for the PS3 making news of a PS4, coming out as early as 2012, a little hard to swallow, though it does sound like it would be a good console.
According to rumours, the new PlayStation will have a built in movement sensor like the Kinect and will be assembled by the same companies that make the PS3, Foxconn and Pegatron Technology. The PS4 will, supposedly, be ready to distribute in 2012, with a minimum of 20 units being shipped that year.
As unlikely as it may sound, Sony does have reason to make a new console, after all the Wii U and Xbox Kinect have brought some great new features to gaming. Sony’s 10 year plan may not be holding up to the advances in technology. For now we can only speculate as to whether or not the rumours are true, but hopefully Sony will release a statement soon.

Lunar eclipses aren’t that rare, at least one happens every year, but the moon isn’t always completely eclipsed. When this happens, it’s because the earth is directly in between the sun and the moon, thus preventing the suns light from reflecting off the moon. This is called totality and it has another cool effect, it causes the moon to appear red after it comes out from the eclipse. The reason for this is that the rays of light, coming from the sun, pass through our atmosphere and the particles in the atmosphere make it look as though the moon is red. Ancient civilisations have feared the red moon believing it was a bad omen, in actual fact the same process, light passing through our atmosphere, is the reason the sky is blue.
In four years there will be another red lunar eclipse, but last night one happened right above Ireland. People all over the country occasionally peaked out their windows indifferently, each one wondering if they would see something amazing. Most were disappointed, briefly, because they couldn’t see anything. The reason for this is that the moon eclipsed while rising so it literally rose into the eclipse. This meant that only people with a clear view of the horizon got to actually see the eclipse.
Living in the city I couldn’t see it, but I did try my best, even going as far as standing looking out the window in my attic. From there I could see people walking outside from time to time, taking a look up, making sure no one saw them stargazing and then walk back inside. It would have been interesting to see it, but remember that the international space station should be visible for the next few weeks so keep an eye out, especially if you’re in the UK or Ireland.

Normally, when you fire two of your lead actresses and bring in a replacement, two actresses leave the show and a new one comes on. However, things work a little differently over on the set of Criminal Minds.
After firing AJ Cook and Paget Brewster, the producers hired Rachel Nichols as a replacement. Recently, news that Cook would be returning surfaced and it was said that the same would be true for Brewster if the pilot she was working on was not picked up. The pilot wasn’t bought and now it has been confirmed that Brewster will also be coming back, so where does this leave, their replacement, Rachel Nichols. Unfortunately, the actress has been let go, which basically means that they’ve come completely full circle.
Nichols character was introduced shortly after AJ Cook departed, at this time Paget Brewster’s character, Emily Prentiss, was still on the show. Prentiss was given a much bigger send off, her story arc spanning the majority of the season. Fans showed how much they cared for both Cook and Brewster by making a petition that got over 60,000 signatures. It’s doubtful, but perhaps Nichols will also be rehired in the future. For now the new mystery is whether or not Thomas Gibson, Hotch, will be returning next season.

It starts with one man forgetting his anniversary and ends with a Muppet adventure. That’s right I’m talking about the Muppets movie again. Why? Because they released a trailer.
The trailer is actually disguised as a melodramatic romance movie and then it’s revealed to be a trailer for The Muppets. Making the fake trailer was a really clever idea; it kind of taps into some of the fun of the film. Near the end we do get to see some of the actually footage and it looks impressive. The tone matches with earlier Muppet movies and that’s really the most important thing.
It’s clear from the trailer that there will be some musical numbers, which isn’t surprising if you’ve ever watched The Muppets before. The new songs will be written by Flight of the Concords star Bret McKenzie, but some of the classics will also be making an appearance too. Among these classic songs is the hit Rainbow Connection.
So far I’m impressed by what I’ve seen, not that I was expecting otherwise. The people working on the project really care about it and it’s great to see that. It would be a complete shock to me if this film didn’t end up being a hit.

The big celebration of going over 200 posts is not quite ready. I underestimated the difficulty of what I was trying to do and now I need to invest 2 euro to fix the problem. Don’t worry it will be soon, I just need to track something down first.
Anyway, in the spirit of quick recovery, let’s get down to business. Today I have great news for Muppets fans as a new film is coming out this year. This will be the first Muppets film in over ten years. A lot has changed since then and the question has to be asked; Is there room for the Muppets in a world where kids are filled with Bieber fever and computer animation has become so popular?
Personally I don’t think it matters. Let’s face it; cinemas will be packed even if there isn’t a single child that wants to see the film. The Muppets have always been something that the whole family can enjoy, age really isn’t a factor. As long as the movie is done right I have confidence it will do great at the box office.
The plot follows Walter, a puppet, who is the world’s biggest Muppets fan. With his friends Gary and Mary, played by Jason Segel and Amy Adams respectively, Walter travels to Los Angeles where he finds out that the Muppet theatre is getting torn down by a businessman who wants to drill for oil. Walter and his friend’s then travel around to reunite the Muppets, who have all went their separate ways in the last decade, and have a telethon to raise the money to save the theatre.
It sounds like they have a very strong plot, by which I mean it sounds like something that would happen in a Muppets movie. However, times have changed and so has technology. According to Segel we’ll see the Muppets ‘doing stuff they hadn’t been able to do before’ by this he means that they will be using more advanced puppets. You may have noticed that on the poster they have legs.
The movie will feature special appearances from many celebrities, but luckily Justin Bieber is not one of them. In an ironic twist the guy who played the ‘Asian’ in Breakfast at Tiffany’s is (this isn’t random I was talking about him in a post a couple of days ago). The list of celebrity appearances is so long so I’m just going to name a few. Jack Black, Mila Kunis, Beth Broderick (Aunt Zelda), Selena Gomez, John Krasinski, Lady Gaga, Ben Stiller and many more.
As of yet there is no trailer, but I’ll post it when it’s released. It shouldn’t be long now, as the movie is set to come out on the 23rd of November. Also if you like Toy Story, you’ll be happy to know that a brand new short, featuring the characters from Toy Story, will air before the Muppets movie in cinemas.

Are you currently pacing the floors of Google in a desperate attempt to find out more information about a game that’s being developed? Well you may be in luck as E3 is just around the corner. E3 stands for Electronic Entertainment Expo. It’s an annual event were game developers show off their latest projects and make announcements. It’s not a buy a ticket at the door kind of event; it’s for people in the gaming industry and press. I know what you’re thinking ‘Adam you are so lucky to be going’, well unfortunately my invite must have gotten lost in the mail because I didn’t get it.
Though I won’t be there, I will still be stalking people who where and finding out all of the great revelations that are made at the show. Personally I’m most interested in seeing if Capcom release new details on the upcoming punch in the face to Devil May Cry fans. I say that knowing full well that I will most likely buy whatever the end product of their treachery is, plus I’ve kind of embraced the changes (at least for now).
The expo is held in the Los Angeles Convention Center each year around the end of May or the start of June. This year it will be from the 7th to the 9th of June. From what I can tell, there are going to be thousands (and I mean thousands) of companies exhibiting at the show. A full list of all these companies is available on the E3 website, so go check and see if the game you’re stalking has a chance of being featured.

A lot of movie goers will have seen Bane in the 1997 Joel Schumacher film, Batman and Robin, but way he was portrayed in the movie is far from his original comic book persona. The bane of the film is a mindless bodyguard for Poison Ivy, in the comics, as well as strength, Bane has a keen mind. He uses this mind to work independently to fight against Batman. In the comics he is the only man to ever have ‘broke the bat’ which basically means he put Batman in a wheelchair. He also once thought that he and Batman, Bruce Wayne, shared the same father, but it turned out he was wrong.
Now why am I telling you any of this? Bane is going to be one of the villains in the final instalment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy. From what I’ve heard, this version will be much more loyal to the source material than the previous movie was. Tom Hardy was cast as Bane and I’m pretty confident in Nolan’s casting abilities so I’m sure he’ll be great. The first promo picture of Bane was released. It doesn’t really show much, but it does give an idea of the look they’re going for. Check it out.

Okay so I know it’s not a new movie, but it’s not really well known, at least not outside of America. It came out last year, 2010, and it was written and directed by Wes Craven so you know it’s got to be (pause for effect) interesting.
Last night I watched My Soul to Take and I have to say I was expecting worse. I hadn’t read any details about the film, but I had seen a clip that just looked, unintentionally, hilarious. Also I’d read that it got really bad reviews from critics, I haven’t read what they said I just know that they hated the movie.
The movie really throws you in the deep end, it doesn’t spend a lot of time explaining what’s going on or who these characters are, which forces you to think about it and really try piece the details together yourself. Personally, I like this, because I think it makes you engage with the film and you sort of get into the whole experience more, but I can see that, from a different point of view, it could be seen as really annoying and unnecessary.
Though, I must say that putting together all the pieces would have been a lot easier if they were all included in the box. There are parts of the plot that are left completely unexplained, which is down to bad editing. Guess where I found the answers that were not in the movie (pause, this time to leave time to guess) the deleted scenes of course. The movie has a running time of 1 hour and 42 minutes (including credits). I get that leaving in every deleted scene would be impossible, there is quite a few of them, but would it have killed them to cut out some of the stuff that doesn’t make any sense, the aforementioned unintentionally hilarious scene for example, and put in the scenes that explain the plot? I think not.
The movie opens by showing how the Riverton Ripper was caught and allegedly died. Then it cuts to sixteen years later were, on the anniversary of this supposed death, the teenagers of the town, hold a party were one of the seven children that were born on the night the killer died must pretend to fight off a puppet of the killer (now this isn’t the kind of puppet you’ll be seeing on Sesame Street, I warn you). Of course the mentally challenged kid gets pick and freaks out, but the party is broken up by the police. Then the killer begins to kill again. Is it the original killer or is it one of the seven who is carrying the soul of the killer inside them.
One of the things I really liked about the film is that it relies heavily on mental illness, but also teams it with the supernatural. The story follows Adam ‘Bug’ Hellerman, a sixteen year old that suffers from mental illness. Of course if you don’t watch the deleted scenes you might just think Bug is really weird. Since you see everything as he sees it it’s not really clear whether anything supernatural is happening or if it could all be due to mental illness. I would recommend the film, but not to everyone. It’s kind of a movie for people that like to think and analyze movies. If you’re the type of person who goes home and googles the movie you just saw, and you like horror movies, then I think you’ll really like this movie, but if for you the movie ends when the credits roll maybe you should give this one a miss.
What do you think? Have you seen it? Did you love it or hate it? Let me know by voting and leaving a comment below. Also don’t forget to subscribe.
How can you replace a tiger blood filled 45 year old comedian? You just call someone younger and more stable, which this time means Ashton Kutcher.
Kutcher first gained a following playing Kelso in the sitcom That 70s Show, but has since gone on to star in movies. Landing a role in Two and a Half Men will mark his return to the wonderful world of sitcoms, but will he be a welcomed addition to the show? Let’s face it no matter how you feel about Charlie Sheen his character is the better of the leads. Its art imitating life, but when you take out drunken Uncle Charlie and add in someone much younger the whole dynamic of the show is changed.
Two and a Half Men has a huge fan base. The younger fans will probably give Kutcher a chance, but he may find it hard to appeal to the older male audience, which is definitely a large percent of the shows fan base. As I said before, the dynamic of the show will have to change significantly, so they’re probably going to try to obtain a younger audience in the process. Maybe Charlie won’t be the only character that leaves the show.
I have to say I was surprised by the casting choice, it’s a bold move. I guess they figured that trying to literally replace Charlie with an identical character wouldn’t go down well. Also, from a financial point of view, Ashton works out better as he is cheaper than Sheen. Kutcher is reportedly going to receive 1 million per episode, opposed to the 1.2 million that Charlie Sheen got.
What do you think? Do you think Ashton Kutcher was a smart choice? Will you give the show a chance? Let me know by voting and leaving a comment below. Also don’t forget to subscribe.
I’ve been slacking lately, but I’m trying my best to get back on track. Anyway, something else’s that’s been slacking lately is the PSN, PlayStation Network, which has been down for over a week. Slacking may have been a bad word to use seeing as Sony have been working hard to basically redo the entire network, plus they’ve been sued over the whole thing, but hey I needed a segway, which apparently isn’t a proper word according to spell check.
The reason the PSN is down is because hackers got in and stole player’s personal details. This includes; real names, e-mail address and even credit card details. Don’t panic, the credit card details were encrypted, it all comes down to how good a job Sony did encrypting them.
Exactly how much longer the PSN will be down is unclear, but Sony has announced that no one will lose any data. This means your trophies are safe. Sony is also trying to think of a way to reward players for being so patient, not that you had a choice. It’ll probably be a patience trophy or something cheap like that. Then again, I shouldn’t make fun because avid trophy collectors would probably love it. Let’s just hope the PlayStation Network makes a speedy recovery.
What do you think? Are you a fan of the trophy system? What have you been doing since the PSN went down? Let me know by voting and leaving a comment below.
A few months ago, Criminal Minds fans were devastated by the sudden departure of AJ Cook who played JJ, Jenifer Jareau, one of the primary female characters on the show. Cook was let go in an attempt to prevent the show from becoming stale. However, reactions were extremely negative, as JJ is a fan favourite. After hearing that over 60,000 people had signed an online petition to bring her back, the studio rehired Cook, who said she was hurt after being let go but found the fan reaction very comforting.
Cook wasn’t the only cast member to be pushed off the show, Paget Brewster, who plays Emily Prentiss, was also removed from the show. However, she was given the option to stay on as a recurring character rather than a series regular. Her final episode was ‘Lauren’ which still hasn’t aired in some countries, including mine, so I won’t spoil it.
JJ will be returning as a series regular at the start of next season, but she says that both her and her character have changed due to the experience of leaving. Being kicked off the show was a ‘wakeup call’ to just how harsh the entertainment industry can be. The ‘new JJ’ will be more serious and mature but don’t worry ‘she still has heart’.
Brewster has also been offered the chance to return, whether it’s as a series regular or not isn’t clear. After leaving the show, she did a pilot for a different show. If the show doesn’t get picked up she may return, but if it does chances are Prentiss has left the building.
Are you happy that JJ is returning? Do you want Prentiss to come back? Is this the end for Rachel Nichols character, Ashley Seaver? What do you think? Let me know by voting and leaving a comment below. Also don’t forget to subscribe.
On the 25th of May 2012 the third Men in Black movie will hit cinemas, a full ten years after its predecessor. Will Smith and Tommie Lee Jones will be returning as Agents J and K, respectively. Barry Sonnenfield, director of the first two MIB films, will once again be director and Steven Spielberg will be returning as executive producer.
This movie will see Agents J and K travel back in time, using an Apple Store, to the 60s were they encounter K’s younger self, played by Josh Brolin. While in the past, they must stop, time travelling villain, Boris, played by Jemaine Clement, from killing young K. If K dies in the best then Earth in the present will be destroyed, for some reason. I assume it would be either because K never would have stopped some alien attack or that it would just mess up the very fabric of existence. Several celebrities of the time make cameos in the film were they are all revealed to be aliens. These include; Jimi Hendrix, Yoko Ono and Andy Warhol.
The time travel angle had fans worried that it was being done as a way to replace Tommie Lee Jones, while still having his character in the film. However, we now know that both Ks will be in the movie. I’m not convinced that Josh Brolin, age 43, should play the 60s version of Tommy Lee Jones, age 64, seeing as Jones would only be in his 20s in the 60s.
The movie will be in eye popping 3D, which I’m glad about. If any movie could really benefit from being in 3D, it’s this one. The, sure to be over the top, alien attacks will look amazing as they fly straight at you through the screen. This movie will definitely be a walk down nostalgia lane, but let’s hope it picks up some new follows as well, as it will be competing against all of the big summer blockbusters.
What do you think? Are you glad they’ve resurrected this franchise? If you could time travel what time period would you visit? Let me know by voting and leaving a comment below. Also if you like this post, don’t forget to subscribe.
Despite what you may have thought from the finale of the first season, Lucy Lawless will be returning for season two of Spartacus: Blood and Sand, which has suitably been titled Spartacus: Vengeance.
At the end of season one, Lawless’s character, Lucretia, was stabbed in the stomach by Crixus and left for dead. However, it appears that the wound was not fatal and she will be making a full recovery. Can’t help but think that a trained killer like Crixus really should have notice he hadn’t cut deep enough to kill her. Lawless, though happy to be returning, does not expect it to last ‘I’m in season two, but I probably won’t be in season three… I fully expect to die’.
Other characters may also be reappearing this season. Rumour is that Gannicus will also be coming back. I’d bet money this rumour is true, they introduced him for a reason and it wasn’t just to have him ride off into the sunset, plus historically he fought in the Third Servile War, which is the slave rebellion that started at the end of Blood and Sand. Also Oenomaus is in the rebellion, so Gannicus has to join or he’d look like a jerk.
Who would you like to see return? What do you want to happen in season two? Personally I want Lucretia to kick Ilithyia for locking the door. Don’t forget to vote and leave a comment below.
If you read my post yesterday then you’ll remember that I said I’d be revealing the return of a movie franchise that has been considered dead for years. I try to keep my promises so here it is, Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World.
The movie will take us back into the world of spy kids and the OSS, however a lot has changed. For instance, the spy kid division has been closed down, but don’t fear for your favourite mini spies, because they’re all grown up. Alexa Vega and Daryl Sabara will be returning as Carmen and Juni Cortez, respectively, Antonio Banderas will also be making an appearance. Don’t be fooled by the return of some original cast members, this is a new beginning for the series which means new main characters.
Rebecca and Cecil are twins, played by Rowan Blanchard and Mason Cook respectively, who don’t get along with their stepmother Marissa Cortez Wilson, portrayed by Jessica Alba. Unbeknownst to them, and their spy hunting reporter father, Marissa is an ex-spy. One day Marissa is called out of retirement to save the world from the evil Timekeeper. She soon learns that there are some jobs that are meant for kids, as she must join forces with Rebecca and Cecil in order to be triumphant. They also enlist Carmen and Juni for support.
No trailer, or even poster, has been released yet, but it’s not hard to imagine what the return of the franchise will look like. Robert Rodriguez, who directed the original three films, has returned to direct this one. At this early stage it’s hard to judge, but I’m confident that this franchise is in good hands. The movie is set to be released on the 19th of August.

Its official, Charlie Harper is no more. As of today Charlie Sheen has been fired, no turning back. However, the faith of the show has not yet been decided. There are talks of introducing a new character to try keep Two and a Half Men going, but will the audience watch?
Sheen doesn’t seem to be going down without a fight, which isn’t surprising, as he says he’ll be suing to try get another season, which he’s contracted for, made. If the show were to continue filming, Charlie Sheen also insists on a raise in pay, bring his wages to $3 million per episode. Warner Bros has sent a statement to his lawyer saying that they are letting him go as there is ‘ample evidence’ that Sheen has committed felony offences.
Who will win the war? Would you watch One and a Half Men? Or New and a Half Men? Let me know what you think by leaving a comment and voting below.
Today is a special day; it’s the last of the three part superhero marathon. To finish up we’re going to discuss the upcoming Avengers movie. We’ll also be talking about some members of the Avengers that didn’t get their own section, either because they aren’t getting a solo movie or because their solo movie is already released.
Many heroes have joined the Avengers over the years, but the original members were Thor, Iron Man, Hulk, The Wasp and Ant-Man. However, the timeline was rewritten to make Captain America a founding member in place of Hulk. The Avengers were formed when Thor’s adopted brother Loki accidentally gets all five heroes in the same place at the same time.
Iron Man is the story of a rich man who decided to become a superhero. The concept for Iron Man was to create a character that nobody would like and make them like him. To achieve this, they made him everything that was hated at the time. The Cold War was happening so they made him a rich weapons manufacturer, in a time where everyone was poor and sick of war.
The recent Iron Man movies have been a complete success and characters from the films will be appearing in the Avengers movie. Iron Man, Natasha Romanoff and Phil Coulson will all be returning, but War Machine will not.
The Hulk was an incredibly bad movie in 2003, but in 2008 they went back and did it again, with better results. Rumours of a sequel start spreading around, but they were delayed because of the Avengers movie. The Hulk will not only be in the Avengers movie, he may also have a few sequels after it. There is a downside to this uplifting story of a green man, he has been recast. Edward Norton played Bruce Banner in the 2008 film, but he will not be returning, the following statement was released;
‘Our decision is definitely not one based on monetary factors, but instead rooted in the need for an actor who embodies the creativity and collaborative spirit of our other talented cast members,’ said marvel Studios President of Production Kevin Feige in a statement. ‘The Avengers demands players who thrive working as part of an ensemble, as evidenced by Robert, Chris H., Chris E., Sam, Scarlett, and all of our talented cast. We are looking to announce a name actor who fulfils these requirements and is passionate about the iconic role in the coming weeks.’
They went with Mark Ruffalo.
Hawkeye is also set to be in the Avengers movie. He will be played by Jeremy Renner. Renner has announced that the costume will not be the one from the comics, it will be something more ‘reality based’. Here’s what I think of that.
Hawkeye started out as a villain, but then joined the Avengers as their ass kicking, arrow slinging companion. Like most of the heroes in the upcoming film, he does not have superpowers. However, he is a great archer and has several ‘trick arrows’, a lot like DC’s Green Arrow, who was created over 20 years before Hawkeye.
Samuel L. Jackson will be returning as S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Nick Fury, and he won’t be working alone. Cobie Smulders will be portraying agent Maria Hill. Cobie was one of the front runners to play Wonder Woman, but unfortunately the movie, which would have been directed by Joss Whedon, never got made.
Whedon will be directing the Avengers movie, which is set to hit cinemas on the 4th of May 2012. Whedon is a great director, who really cares about the characters in the movie, so it is in good hands. The Avengers looks like it’s going to be an amazing cinematic event, lucky we don’t need to wait too long to get a taste of the action as Captain America and Thor are both being released this year.
This may be the last part of my superhero marathon, but still check back tomorrow for another post. Leave a comment and vote below or you’re supporting the destruction of lids on coffee cups.
