It’s been over a month since Damian Wayne, the latest character to put on the icon Robin costume, was killed in the pages of Batman Incorporated #8, but it seems that DC have already announced his replacement. Or have they?
Ever since his death fans have been wondering if there would be the new Robin or if Damian would recover, while most people thought the title would go to Harper Row, who has been assisting Batman since before Damian’s death, it seems that DC may be taking an unexpected turn by introducing Carrey Kelley into the mainstream DC Universe for the first time.
Carrie Kelley was the first ever female Robin, but until now she only existed in an alternate timeline future were she assists an aged Batman in his fight again a gain called the Mutants. She was created by Frank Miller in his series The Dark Knight Returns, which was turned into an animated film last year. The movie may explain DC’s decision to bring her into the New 52 universe.
Kelley will be introduced as a college student in the upcoming Batman and Red Robin comic. While DC have not said that she will become the next Robin, writer Peter Tomasi has confirmed that ‘she is here to stay’. Promo pictures have shown her in the Robin costume, but she is at a fancy dress party. This could be a subtle nod to the original story, where she buys a Robin costume to dress up and help Batman.
What do you think? Are you excited to see Carrie Kelley in the New 52? Did you like Frank Miller’s story? Do you think Kelley will become the next Robin? Let me know by voting and leaving a comment below.
Clearly Robocop is no match for the advanced technology of the 21st century as set pictures have hit the web after only one day of shooting.
The remake of Robocop began filming in Toronto today and we’re already getting a look at the lead character. For those that don’t know, Robocop is the story of a policeman who is nearly dead when a company steps in and saves him with advanced technology. Then he returns to his job, only this time he has built in weapons and gadgets.
The two pictures that were released show that the costume has changed quite a bit, not that this is a bad thing. This new version of the suit looks good, but it’s kind of reminiscent of the bat suit. Though that could be because of the colour, which is strangely black. It seems like the original colour, silver, would better fit the story. It’s obviously an attempt to try make the suit look more modern, but still it may be a bit too far of a departure. A combination between the old and new design would be nice, though it’s a little too late now.

Sony Pictures have released another trailer for the upcoming addition to the Resident Evil film franchise, Resident Evil: Retribution.
It’s never easy converting a story from one medium to another, there will always be diehard fans that are understandable protective of the original. When Resident Evil made the transition from game to film it wasn’t so much about keeping loyal to the original story but rather the feeling of playing the game, which is why I split fans. Some weren’t able to get over the lack of familiar characters and story, while others appreciated the uneasy atmosphere that mirrored the one in the games. As the series progressed it introduced more elements and characters from the games, but began to lose any resemblance of tone or atmosphere. For this reason many fans of the games openly dislike the series as it doesn’t feel like a Resident Evil experience and the characters do not behave like their game counterparts. From the latest trailer it appears that the film franchise will be moving even further away from the story of the games.
There is a lot of information about the story in this trailer. It was previously stated that a number of characters, who featured in previous movies, would not be returning in this film because they were captured by Umbrella. The trailer adds to this by showing that Alice was also captured and is being held in a fictional reality were she is married to Carlos Oliveira and the two of them have a child together. Ada Wong finds Alice and reveals that the life she is experiencing isn’t real and is only implanted memories. It’s still a little confusing about who is and isn’t a clone, especially since Alice is seen having two different hairstyles throughout the trailer. The narration states that Umbrella has used Alice to perfect the virus, which brings on a whole new theory of how her deceased friends have returned; maybe they were actually brought back with the virus. Though considering Carlos was blown up and jigsaw experts would be require to bring the original James ‘One’ Shade clones are still the most logical bet, which is a little disappointing.
As a fan of both the movie and game series, I thought the trailer looked really good. The story looks interesting and I’m looking forward to actually understanding it. It seems over the top with lots of action and really if that’s not what you want to see then this isn’t the right franchise for you. It doesn’t resemble the games so much in terms of story, but there are a lot of elements from the games that can be seen throughout the trailer. Most obviously are the zombies and B.O.W.s which strongly mirror those of the games. More characters from the games have been brought into the film as well as a proper return for Jill Valentine who only briefly appeared that the end of Afterlife after being absent from Extinction without any explanation. The movie comes out on the 14th of September 2012, until then all we can do is speculate but isn’t that one of the best parts of being obsessed with movies? Maybe that’s just me.

To avoid my usual pun about Spiderman info hitting the web, I’m just going to say that there is a new trailer for the upcoming superhero film The Amazing Spiderman and you can see it here, or in many other places.
So far all we’ve really seen is the action, but this time we get to see what’s at the heart of the story. Peter desperately wants to discover the truth about his parents, where are they and why did they leave him with his aunt and uncle. While going on this journey of discovery, he becomes Spiderman and learns that he can be a hero.
The film’s director, Marc Webb (oh come on seriously), said, at a press event, that he thinks of this as less about Spiderman and more about Peter Parker and his origin story. Having suffered in silence through the last attempt at bring Spiderman to the big screen, I can honestly say that a character driven film will be a welcome change.
Though the well-developed characters and interesting plot take precedence over all else, in my eyes, let’s not forget about the action. The trailer gives us a better look at the lizard, who looks to be a formidable enemy for the young web slinger. When creating the character Webb aimed for a facial design that would be able to show emotions, though the only emotion shown in the trailer is anger, I’m sure there’s a full range of others to come in the movie.

I’ve been crazy busy over the last few weeks with Masters applications, finale assignments and exam preparation, my exams start next week, but don’t be fooled by my recent neglected. I have been keeping an eye out for stuff that truly warranted a break from working and now I’ve found one.
The latest trailer for the upcoming Batman finale has been released by Warner Bros and can now been seen online, check it out below. Since I am currently skiving off studying, I can’t spend as long as I’d like writing about it, but I do want to say a few points that came to mind.
Selina Kyle, Catwoman, seems to be on Batman’s side for a large portion of the movie possibly betraying him; hopefully she’s not just a one-time thief turned pseudo-Robin. She also fears Bane, which may be a reason to betray Batman.
Bane speaks perfectly clear and not muttered.
There is so much more I’d like to get into, but at the moment I don’t have time so please check it out below and leave a comment to discuss.
If you’re a Superman fan, then you’re probably having a hard enough time waiting for the reboot, which doesn’t come out until summer 2013, but, to make the wait even more torturous, a new promotional image has been released on the movies official Facebook page.
It may not be much different from older versions of the insignia, but there are some noticeable changes. It’s darker and there are some extra details, which is small enough change that it won’t upset hard core fans while still adding something new. The darker colour goes well pictures of the suit, which is also darker, that have previously been released. You can check out those and many more pictures on the official Facebook page here. Don’t get too excited though, because the film doesn’t come out until the 14th of June 2013.

A new trailer for Marvel’s upcoming Avengers film has been released and it finally gives fans a chance to really see the team in action.
The trailer, which can be seen below, begins with a voiceover explaining that the world is in danger and can only be saved by the Avengers. The team is assembled and, in what could be some sort of training exercise, we see the group fighting each other. At one stage, Iron Man is shown to be, seemingly, winning in a fight against Thor. I suspect this fight will then be turned around, after all Thor has already defeated the main enemy in the film, his brother Loki, plus he’s a god.
Some of the other enemies the team will be facing are also shown in the trailer and it will be interesting to see how they put their differences aside and play off each other’s strengths. One of these enemies, shown at the end of the trailer, looks like a giant flying eel. Having thought it would seem out of place to have Iron Man, who uses technology and science, in a story with mythology creatures, I was pleasantly surprised when the thought didn’t enter my head until the third viewing.
Finding a balance between all the heroes in the film is a really important, and probably extremely difficult, thing. Judging by this trailer, it seems that Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and HULK take most of the focus with Black Widow and Hawkeye just that little bit out of the spotlight, but then again maybe not. Nothing is for certain until the film is released this summer, on the 4th of May.
Who’s your favourite Avenger? Are you excited about the film? Were you impressed by the trailer? Watch the trailer and let me know what you think in the comment section below. Also, if you like the site, don’t forget subscribe/follow and click the like button.
No matter how you feel about the, Toby Maguire, Spider-man movies, you can’t deny that the games were pretty good. This could be because they didn’t follow the movie plot exactly, who knows, but one of the best things about them was the villains that didn’t feature in the movie. Every one of the games had, not only the bad guys from the film, but also extra ones from the comics. Now that the movie franchise is getting rebooted, the games are getting the same treatment and it looks like they are keeping up the tradition of including secondary villains. A new trailer, for the game, hit the web, pun, today and it revealed that the Rhino will be in the game.
Rhino has been described as Spider-man ‘dimmest’ enemy and that’s how he appeared when he was in the game Spider-man 2. However, this time he seems to be a lot tougher and have a bigger role to play and, while he wasn’t exactly holding up his scores on an IQ test, a voiceover in the video, as well as some of the scenes, would suggest that brains don’t matter as he simply uses his animal instinct. The ‘beast’ is in control.
It isn’t only the villains that look tougher in this game; Spider-man is shown kicking some serious behind. Throwing people, grabbing there head between his feet, flipping them, Jackie Chan eat your heart out. There are so many different ways that you can beat up criminal, it looks really great and I’m glad that they kept it open city. I never really doubted that they would. It was such an important part of the previous instalments, though they are not related, it would have been foolish to leave it out when it works so well.
The other Spider-man games featured more than one new villain, so it stands to reason that this one will as well. No word has been announced yet, but if I could pick I’d like to see either Black Cat, because I thought her part in the second Spider-man game was really good, or Morbius, just sort of an old favourite. There’s no guarantee that another extra villain will appear in the game, but it is very plausible.
What do you think? Are you glad Rhino will be in the new game? Do you think there will be another extra villain? Who would you like to see appear in the game? Let me know by voting and leaving a comment below. Also, don’t forget to follow and click the like button, if you like this post.
A clip from the upcoming Spider-man movie, The Amazing Spider-man, has hit the web.
It’s not exactly a spectacular, exciting or vital scene, but, if you’re excited about the film, this will help tide you over for a while. The clip shows Peter on his way to see Gwen, maybe for the dinner scene that was shown in the trailer, but the doorman will not let him in until he lets him search his bag.
What could possibly be in there that would stop Peter giving the guard a look? How will Peter get out of this situation? We’ll have to wait to know for sure, but my guess is his Spider-man stuff is in the bag and Gwen probably sees him and calls for him to be let in. Could be wrong, but those are the obvious answers.

While I do love random speculation, nothing beats answers and, at last, we have some answers about the mysterious Resident Evil 6.
First of all, I’m really glad to say that it has been announced that the game takes place in 2013, meaning it is set after the previous games so it’s definitely not a prequel. There’s nothing wrong with a good prequel, Devil May Cry 3 for example, but when it’s not needed prequels can be really annoying, Devil May Cry 5 for example (though technically it’s a reboot, isn’t called Devil May Cry 5 and looks great).
The President that is turned into a zombie, affectionately nicknamed President Evil by fans, is not Ashley’s father; he is the man that took the position after President Graham. This effectively gets rid of my burning desire to have Ashley be the female protagonist with the new mercenary; it just felt right for the story when I thought it was President Graham that had died. The identity of the new mercenary still has not been revealed, but apparently he was introduced so we young folk would have someone to relate to. Seems unnecessary, but I’m not complaining, plus they probably meant young people that were new to the series.
Fans were happy to see the return of zombies, but don’t get too excited because they are not the same as the ones that have been missing for so long. These are not T-Virus zombies they’re a new breed of zombie known as J’avo. They are faster and more aggressive than your standard undead. The added speed won’t cause too much of a problem as you will now be able to move and shoot, no longer will you have to choose. The controls have been reworked with an added focus on melee attacks, sliding and rolling and all sorts of fun things.
We already knew that Leon, Chris and the new guy were each in different locations, we can see that in the trailer, but now more information has been released. Leon is in a town called Tall Oaks, we seen that in the trailer, Chris is in a Chinese city called Lansiang and the new guy is in Eastern Europe. Another interesting point is that Chris is apparently going through some sort of personal trauma. This would have fed in well with the whole ‘Jill is dead’ thing in Resident Evil 5, but as I said this isn’t a prequel. Could this mean the end of another Resident Evil character? Claire perhaps, I hope not.
What do you think? Has this announcement made you more or less excited about the game? Are you glad it’s not a prequel? Are you still mad about the Devil May Cry reboot? Let me know by voting and leaving a comment below, also don’t forget to follow and, if you like this post, click the like button.
