It’s been over a month since Damian Wayne, the latest character to put on the icon Robin costume, was killed in the pages of Batman Incorporated #8, but it seems that DC have already announced his replacement. Or have they?
Ever since his death fans have been wondering if there would be the new Robin or if Damian would recover, while most people thought the title would go to Harper Row, who has been assisting Batman since before Damian’s death, it seems that DC may be taking an unexpected turn by introducing Carrey Kelley into the mainstream DC Universe for the first time.
Carrie Kelley was the first ever female Robin, but until now she only existed in an alternate timeline future were she assists an aged Batman in his fight again a gain called the Mutants. She was created by Frank Miller in his series The Dark Knight Returns, which was turned into an animated film last year. The movie may explain DC’s decision to bring her into the New 52 universe.
Kelley will be introduced as a college student in the upcoming Batman and Red Robin comic. While DC have not said that she will become the next Robin, writer Peter Tomasi has confirmed that ‘she is here to stay’. Promo pictures have shown her in the Robin costume, but she is at a fancy dress party. This could be a subtle nod to the original story, where she buys a Robin costume to dress up and help Batman.
What do you think? Are you excited to see Carrie Kelley in the New 52? Did you like Frank Miller’s story? Do you think Kelley will become the next Robin? Let me know by voting and leaving a comment below.
Clearly Robocop is no match for the advanced technology of the 21st century as set pictures have hit the web after only one day of shooting.
The remake of Robocop began filming in Toronto today and we’re already getting a look at the lead character. For those that don’t know, Robocop is the story of a policeman who is nearly dead when a company steps in and saves him with advanced technology. Then he returns to his job, only this time he has built in weapons and gadgets.
The two pictures that were released show that the costume has changed quite a bit, not that this is a bad thing. This new version of the suit looks good, but it’s kind of reminiscent of the bat suit. Though that could be because of the colour, which is strangely black. It seems like the original colour, silver, would better fit the story. It’s obviously an attempt to try make the suit look more modern, but still it may be a bit too far of a departure. A combination between the old and new design would be nice, though it’s a little too late now.
What do you think? Are you excited about this remake? Which version of the suit do you prefer? Would you like to see a cross between both designs? Let me know by voting and leaving a comment below. Also, don’t forget to subscribe and click the like button.
Sony Pictures have released another trailer for the upcoming addition to the Resident Evil film franchise, Resident Evil: Retribution.
It’s never easy converting a story from one medium to another, there will always be diehard fans that are understandable protective of the original. When Resident Evil made the transition from game to film it wasn’t so much about keeping loyal to the original story but rather the feeling of playing the game, which is why I split fans. Some weren’t able to get over the lack of familiar characters and story, while others appreciated the uneasy atmosphere that mirrored the one in the games. As the series progressed it introduced more elements and characters from the games, but began to lose any resemblance of tone or atmosphere. For this reason many fans of the games openly dislike the series as it doesn’t feel like a Resident Evil experience and the characters do not behave like their game counterparts. From the latest trailer it appears that the film franchise will be moving even further away from the story of the games.
There is a lot of information about the story in this trailer. It was previously stated that a number of characters, who featured in previous movies, would not be returning in this film because they were captured by Umbrella. The trailer adds to this by showing that Alice was also captured and is being held in a fictional reality were she is married to Carlos Oliveira and the two of them have a child together. Ada Wong finds Alice and reveals that the life she is experiencing isn’t real and is only implanted memories. It’s still a little confusing about who is and isn’t a clone, especially since Alice is seen having two different hairstyles throughout the trailer. The narration states that Umbrella has used Alice to perfect the virus, which brings on a whole new theory of how her deceased friends have returned; maybe they were actually brought back with the virus. Though considering Carlos was blown up and jigsaw experts would be require to bring the original James ‘One’ Shade clones are still the most logical bet, which is a little disappointing.
As a fan of both the movie and game series, I thought the trailer looked really good. The story looks interesting and I’m looking forward to actually understanding it. It seems over the top with lots of action and really if that’s not what you want to see then this isn’t the right franchise for you. It doesn’t resemble the games so much in terms of story, but there are a lot of elements from the games that can be seen throughout the trailer. Most obviously are the zombies and B.O.W.s which strongly mirror those of the games. More characters from the games have been brought into the film as well as a proper return for Jill Valentine who only briefly appeared that the end of Afterlife after being absent from Extinction without any explanation. The movie comes out on the 14th of September 2012, until then all we can do is speculate but isn’t that one of the best parts of being obsessed with movies? Maybe that’s just me.

To avoid my usual pun about Spiderman info hitting the web, I’m just going to say that there is a new trailer for the upcoming superhero film The Amazing Spiderman and you can see it here, or in many other places.
So far all we’ve really seen is the action, but this time we get to see what’s at the heart of the story. Peter desperately wants to discover the truth about his parents, where are they and why did they leave him with his aunt and uncle. While going on this journey of discovery, he becomes Spiderman and learns that he can be a hero.
The film’s director, Marc Webb (oh come on seriously), said, at a press event, that he thinks of this as less about Spiderman and more about Peter Parker and his origin story. Having suffered in silence through the last attempt at bring Spiderman to the big screen, I can honestly say that a character driven film will be a welcome change.
Though the well-developed characters and interesting plot take precedence over all else, in my eyes, let’s not forget about the action. The trailer gives us a better look at the lizard, who looks to be a formidable enemy for the young web slinger. When creating the character Webb aimed for a facial design that would be able to show emotions, though the only emotion shown in the trailer is anger, I’m sure there’s a full range of others to come in the movie.

I’ve been crazy busy over the last few weeks with Masters applications, finale assignments and exam preparation, my exams start next week, but don’t be fooled by my recent neglected. I have been keeping an eye out for stuff that truly warranted a break from working and now I’ve found one.
The latest trailer for the upcoming Batman finale has been released by Warner Bros and can now been seen online, check it out below. Since I am currently skiving off studying, I can’t spend as long as I’d like writing about it, but I do want to say a few points that came to mind.
Selina Kyle, Catwoman, seems to be on Batman’s side for a large portion of the movie possibly betraying him; hopefully she’s not just a one-time thief turned pseudo-Robin. She also fears Bane, which may be a reason to betray Batman.
Bane speaks perfectly clear and not muttered.
There is so much more I’d like to get into, but at the moment I don’t have time so please check it out below and leave a comment to discuss.
If you’re a Superman fan, then you’re probably having a hard enough time waiting for the reboot, which doesn’t come out until summer 2013, but, to make the wait even more torturous, a new promotional image has been released on the movies official Facebook page.
It may not be much different from older versions of the insignia, but there are some noticeable changes. It’s darker and there are some extra details, which is small enough change that it won’t upset hard core fans while still adding something new. The darker colour goes well pictures of the suit, which is also darker, that have previously been released. You can check out those and many more pictures on the official Facebook page here. Don’t get too excited though, because the film doesn’t come out until the 14th of June 2013.

A new trailer for Marvel’s upcoming Avengers film has been released and it finally gives fans a chance to really see the team in action.
The trailer, which can be seen below, begins with a voiceover explaining that the world is in danger and can only be saved by the Avengers. The team is assembled and, in what could be some sort of training exercise, we see the group fighting each other. At one stage, Iron Man is shown to be, seemingly, winning in a fight against Thor. I suspect this fight will then be turned around, after all Thor has already defeated the main enemy in the film, his brother Loki, plus he’s a god.
Some of the other enemies the team will be facing are also shown in the trailer and it will be interesting to see how they put their differences aside and play off each other’s strengths. One of these enemies, shown at the end of the trailer, looks like a giant flying eel. Having thought it would seem out of place to have Iron Man, who uses technology and science, in a story with mythology creatures, I was pleasantly surprised when the thought didn’t enter my head until the third viewing.
Finding a balance between all the heroes in the film is a really important, and probably extremely difficult, thing. Judging by this trailer, it seems that Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and HULK take most of the focus with Black Widow and Hawkeye just that little bit out of the spotlight, but then again maybe not. Nothing is for certain until the film is released this summer, on the 4th of May.
Who’s your favourite Avenger? Are you excited about the film? Were you impressed by the trailer? Watch the trailer and let me know what you think in the comment section below. Also, if you like the site, don’t forget subscribe/follow and click the like button.
No matter how you feel about the, Toby Maguire, Spider-man movies, you can’t deny that the games were pretty good. This could be because they didn’t follow the movie plot exactly, who knows, but one of the best things about them was the villains that didn’t feature in the movie. Every one of the games had, not only the bad guys from the film, but also extra ones from the comics. Now that the movie franchise is getting rebooted, the games are getting the same treatment and it looks like they are keeping up the tradition of including secondary villains. A new trailer, for the game, hit the web, pun, today and it revealed that the Rhino will be in the game.
Rhino has been described as Spider-man ‘dimmest’ enemy and that’s how he appeared when he was in the game Spider-man 2. However, this time he seems to be a lot tougher and have a bigger role to play and, while he wasn’t exactly holding up his scores on an IQ test, a voiceover in the video, as well as some of the scenes, would suggest that brains don’t matter as he simply uses his animal instinct. The ‘beast’ is in control.
It isn’t only the villains that look tougher in this game; Spider-man is shown kicking some serious behind. Throwing people, grabbing there head between his feet, flipping them, Jackie Chan eat your heart out. There are so many different ways that you can beat up criminal, it looks really great and I’m glad that they kept it open city. I never really doubted that they would. It was such an important part of the previous instalments, though they are not related, it would have been foolish to leave it out when it works so well.
The other Spider-man games featured more than one new villain, so it stands to reason that this one will as well. No word has been announced yet, but if I could pick I’d like to see either Black Cat, because I thought her part in the second Spider-man game was really good, or Morbius, just sort of an old favourite. There’s no guarantee that another extra villain will appear in the game, but it is very plausible.
What do you think? Are you glad Rhino will be in the new game? Do you think there will be another extra villain? Who would you like to see appear in the game? Let me know by voting and leaving a comment below. Also, don’t forget to follow and click the like button, if you like this post.
A clip from the upcoming Spider-man movie, The Amazing Spider-man, has hit the web.
It’s not exactly a spectacular, exciting or vital scene, but, if you’re excited about the film, this will help tide you over for a while. The clip shows Peter on his way to see Gwen, maybe for the dinner scene that was shown in the trailer, but the doorman will not let him in until he lets him search his bag.
What could possibly be in there that would stop Peter giving the guard a look? How will Peter get out of this situation? We’ll have to wait to know for sure, but my guess is his Spider-man stuff is in the bag and Gwen probably sees him and calls for him to be let in. Could be wrong, but those are the obvious answers.
Check out the clip below and let me know what you think by voting and leaving a comment, also, if you like the site, please follow and like the like button.
While I do love random speculation, nothing beats answers and, at last, we have some answers about the mysterious Resident Evil 6.
First of all, I’m really glad to say that it has been announced that the game takes place in 2013, meaning it is set after the previous games so it’s definitely not a prequel. There’s nothing wrong with a good prequel, Devil May Cry 3 for example, but when it’s not needed prequels can be really annoying, Devil May Cry 5 for example (though technically it’s a reboot, isn’t called Devil May Cry 5 and looks great).
The President that is turned into a zombie, affectionately nicknamed President Evil by fans, is not Ashley’s father; he is the man that took the position after President Graham. This effectively gets rid of my burning desire to have Ashley be the female protagonist with the new mercenary; it just felt right for the story when I thought it was President Graham that had died. The identity of the new mercenary still has not been revealed, but apparently he was introduced so we young folk would have someone to relate to. Seems unnecessary, but I’m not complaining, plus they probably meant young people that were new to the series.
Fans were happy to see the return of zombies, but don’t get too excited because they are not the same as the ones that have been missing for so long. These are not T-Virus zombies they’re a new breed of zombie known as J’avo. They are faster and more aggressive than your standard undead. The added speed won’t cause too much of a problem as you will now be able to move and shoot, no longer will you have to choose. The controls have been reworked with an added focus on melee attacks, sliding and rolling and all sorts of fun things.
We already knew that Leon, Chris and the new guy were each in different locations, we can see that in the trailer, but now more information has been released. Leon is in a town called Tall Oaks, we seen that in the trailer, Chris is in a Chinese city called Lansiang and the new guy is in Eastern Europe. Another interesting point is that Chris is apparently going through some sort of personal trauma. This would have fed in well with the whole ‘Jill is dead’ thing in Resident Evil 5, but as I said this isn’t a prequel. Could this mean the end of another Resident Evil character? Claire perhaps, I hope not.
What do you think? Has this announcement made you more or less excited about the game? Are you glad it’s not a prequel? Are you still mad about the Devil May Cry reboot? Let me know by voting and leaving a comment below, also don’t forget to follow and, if you like this post, click the like button.
OK Go have a bit of a reputation for making really, how do I put it, interesting music videos, but this could be their best yet.
The video, for their song Needing/Getting, features the entire band sitting in a car driving through an obstacle course and essentially playing the song with the car and various things, like pianos and bottles, that are obstacles along the way. It’s really amazing and I found myself being more interested in the video than I was in the song, which I suppose could be a bad thing.
You could argue that, in a way, the whole thing is a Chevy ad, because most like a lot of money was paid for a Chevy to be the car used in the ad. If this is the case, would it really make a difference? It’s not as shameless as the Ferris Bueller Honda ad. At least this time the video was entertaining and not just a play on a great movie, and a chance for Matthew Brodrick to sell out.
Ferris Bueller may have a Honda, but OK Go have a Chevy that can play music. What do you think? Do you like the song? Are you a fan of OK Go? Which would you prefer a Chevy or a Honda? Yesterday we looked at the trailer for the new Resident Evil game, Resident Evil 6, but since then some new theories have come to light.
Ashley or Sherry
The identity of the blonde girl from the trailer is being debated, with various sites taking different stances on the topic. Is she Ashley Graham or Sherry Birkin? Personally, I think its Ashley as the president, who is her father, plays a key role in the game. Some have argued that it may not be President Graham, though this is unlikely as he references working with Leon, and trusting Leon, for a long time and President Graham trusted Leon enough to send him single handed to rescue his daughter.
IGN have confirmed from sources that it is Sherry, but that means nothing. The same was said about Sherry in Resident Evil 5 and she ended up not being in it. She hasn’t appeared in a long time and fans really want to know what happened to her, but unfortunately that doesn’t mean she’ll ever reappear. Still, don’t rule it out it could be her, but my money’s on Ashley and I’d actually prefer if it was Ashley. I think she was a really annoying part of Resident Evil 4, but story wise she makes sense and it seems right to include her.
Then there’s the possibility that she’s someone completely new. No one seems to be arguing this, but she may not be a returning character at all. There is no point in the trailer were she says or does anything to indicate that she has been in a biohazard before, though her voice sounds a lot like Ashley’s. IMDB does not have a page for Resident Evil 6 yet to confirm whether or not it is actually the same voice actress.
HUNK or Alex Wesker
The mysterious new guy, who is ironically paired with Ashley/Sherry, definitely has a relation to someone in the past games, Capcom have said this, but who could it be? The two main contenders are HUNK and Alex Wesker. HUNK has appeared in the games before, but was always in a costume with a gas mask. Alex Wesker was mentioned in past games, though he’s never physically appeared.
HUNK is a mercenary and the new guy in the trailer says he was ‘better off as a mercenary’. Also he is pretty good at surviving dangerous situations, much like HUNK who usually is the only survivor on his team when he goes on missions. The new guy’s blood seems to have some immunity to the virus or some important quality and it’s been long theorised by fans that HUNK was immune to the virus and this is why he survives when the rest of his team dies. However, fan speculation isn’t fact so HUNK may have completely regular blood.
Alex Wesker was, along with the more well-known Albert Wesker, one of the Wesker children. That doesn’t make them DNA related they were just a group of children that were experimented on. Alex is, as of Resident Evil 5, the only surviving Wesker child. Alex has been mentioned in a number of times throughout the series, though never in a way that specifies the gender. All the Wesker children were experimented on so it’s likely his blood would have a few tricks up its sleeve, yeah that’s right blood can have sleeves.
As with the Ashley/Sherry debate, it could be someone completely new. If I had to pick I’d say that I think its Alex. I wouldn’t mind either way, because I think both would be really cool, but I feel it’s more likely that it’s Alex.
Is Resident Evil 6 a prequel?
Unfortunately, basic maths says it is. Resident Evil 5 takes place 11 years after the Raccoon City incident and Resident Evil takes place 10 years after, which, if my maths are correct, means number 6 is set one year before 5. Hopefully this is a mistake that will be fixed before the game comes out, because what’s the point of putting it before 5? The only reason I can think of is to include Albert Wesker, but that’s not a good enough reason.
So in conclusion, Ashley, Alex and prequel those are my theories what are yours. Let me know by voting and leaving a comment below. Also don’t forget to follow/subscribe and click the like button, if you liked this post. You can follow me on twitter if you want it’s.
After a 12 year absence the Muppets make a return to cinemas and they don’t disappoint.
It’s hard to believe that the last Muppets movie was Muppet Treasure Island in 1996. Now, in 2012, fans, old and new, get to see a new Muppet adventure, this time starring, alongside the Muppets, Jason Segal (Gary), Amy Adams (Mary) and Peter Linz, as the latest Muppet Walter.
The story follows Gary, Mary and Walter as they go to Los Angeles to celebrate Gary and Mary’s 10 year anniversary and visit the old Muppets studios with Walter, who thinks that the stories about the Muppets closing down are just internet rumours. Walter soon learns that this isn’t the case and that there is an evil villain plotting to tear the studios down, the three then head off on a quest to reunite the Muppets and save the studios. Along the way they encounter several celebrities making cameo appearances, the best of which is Jim Parsons (aka Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory).
Other celebrity guests include Emily Blunt, Selena Gomez, Zach Galifanakis, Sarah Silverman Neil Patrick Harris, Whoopi Goldberg, Jack Black and many more. There’s so many that you probably won’t notice some the first time or maybe you’ll get paranoid and start thinking people are in it that really aren’t, I was convinced I saw Tina Fey I just can’t prove it. Some of the cameos were really small, which I guess with that maybe people it was either that or make a ten hour movie, but some were really funny and it was fun trying to spot the ones that weren’t so obvious, Tina Fey for example.
The music for the movie was brilliant, bright and cheerful for the most part naturally. Some classic Muppets songs, like Rainbow Connection, were used in the film and new, just as catchy, ones were introduced. The songs were a great part of the film; they were funny and just plain old fashion fun.
It’s hard to say anything bad about it, because I really did enjoy the film, but one thing that comes to mind is Walter, who I just couldn’t sympathise with. Sure at first you feel sorry for him, because he’s a Muppet in a world of humans, but then that wears off and he just comes across as a selfish. Though everyone, or at least my favourite characters, got a fair bit of screen time so they more than make up for his selfishness.
In the Muppets movies, they tend to make jokes about being in a movie, which works really well for them. This time, along with those types of jokes, they make a nod at dark remakes with some, not so friendly, Muppets cast as potential replacements that might be better suited for today’s audiences. Hopefully, this remains a joke and we never have to see the Muppets being remade, though it would be nice if they continued making films or even returned to television.
The Muppets movie comes out on the 10th of February, in Ireland and the UK. If you like the other films or the series then it’s worth seeing, even without kids. Let’s face it they made this movie mostly for the adults anyway and it’s a refreshing change from all those dark remakes and 3D films that are in cinemas these days. I would definitely recommend it.

The Dark Knight Rises is one of the most anticipated films of 2012 and now, thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we have some new images to keep us interested.
The pictures show a new, upgraded, Batman suit and a small glance at were its stored, the Batcave. They also give a really good look at bane who is fighting with Batman in one of the pictures. In another picture Gordon is seen backed against a wall holding a gun, possibly about to experience whatever it is that sends him to the hospital.
The pictures look pretty impressive, but it’ll mean nothing if we can’t understand Bane. Personally, I never saw a big problem with him, but a lot of people did and numerous comments have been released, from people involved in with film, saying not to worry. Despite rumours to the contrary, Writer, Jonathan Nolan, has said that they will not have to do voiceovers and that when fans see more they will have no problem understanding him.
What do you think? Have these pictures got your mind on the plot? Do you like the new Batman suit? Are you planning on seeing the movie when it comes out in July? Capcom have released a new trailer for their upcoming game Resident Evil: Operation Racoon City. The game takes place at the same time as the second and third games in the Resident Evil series, and the two Outbreak games, a time when zombies were zombies and players were scared. This time around players control Umbrella’s security team as they try to cover up the outbreak. The main point of the trailer was to show off the triple treat combat between Umbrella, US Spec Ops, the zombies and Bio-Organic Weapons (B.O.W.s).
The trailer looks amazing and is filled with action as well as some much requested zombie scares. It looks like there are going to be times when you are seriously outnumbered and have to fight your way out through hordes of real, fully fledged, zombies. The US Spec Ops look pretty cool too, unfortunately their names don’t match their cool image; Tweed, Dee-Ay, Harley, Willow, Shona and Party Girl. They sound more like a group of outcast teenagers than a highly trained task force on a mission to uncover the source of a zombie outbreak.
Along with the Spec Ops team, two other new characters were shown. Another pair of playable characters have been added to the list. We’ve already met Beltway (the explosives expert), Vector (the recon expert), Spectre (the marksman) and Bertha (the medic), but now Four-Eyes (a scientist) and Lupo (the team leader) have been added to the mix. This provides more female roles and gives the girls a chance to do more than just heal; they can now do science and boss people around.
Though previous announcements have revealed characters from the first two Resident Evil games would appear in the game, most notably Leon S. Kennedy who shows up as a killable enemy, now players will get to play as these classic characters in a new online feature called Heroes Mode. This mode is multiplayer and splits people into two teams; the first is team has Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine, Leon S. Kennedy and Carlos Oliveira. The second team consists of Ada Wong, HUNK, Nicholai Ginovaef and, Umbrella helicopter pilot, LONE WOLF. As well as fighting each other players will also have to fight zombies and B.O.W.s. Though the main game can be played with both on and offline multiplayer, it is unclear whether or not the same is true for Heroes Mode.
The trailer looks amazing and has really got me excited about the game. Check it out below and tell me what you think my voting and leaving a comment below. Also don’t forget to subscribe/follow, like this post and then, if you have any time left, head over to Twitter and follow me there.

Screenshots from the upcoming South Park RPG have been released and show a remarkable resemblance to the TV series.
Though not the first South Park game that’s been made, this one is by far the most noteworthy, including another that isn’t even out yet. Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the creators of South Park, approached, game developing company, Obsidian Entertainment, who have previously made games like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, Fallout: New Vegas and Dungeon Siege III, to create the RPG. Stone and Parker, having been criticised for making previous game characters 3D, specified that they wanted to maintain the look of the show and they’ve succeeded.
Stone and Parker are writing the script as well as doing the voices and overseeing the project, which hopefully means that it will not only look like an episode of South Park but will feel like it too. The main characters from the show, Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman, will all appear in the game, as will a large amount of the townspeople. However, the player will not control any of the pre-existing characters, but will instead play as a new, silent, character that will be fully customisable.
Players must meet and befriend South Park citizens as well as go on a, no doubt crazy, quest with the main characters. To check how you are progressing with the people of South Park your character can go to a Facebook like site on their phone. The site will show them which characters they have made friends with.
Like other RPGs, the game will use a class system, which contains five different classes Fighter, Mage, Thief, Cleric and, a class that Cartman makes up for you, Jew. The Jew class is like a Paladin or Monk who will be able to do more powerful attacks the less health he has. The player will travel as part of a group and the game uses a turn based combat system for battles.
The game will be released on the PS3, the Xbox360 and the PC and is set to hit shelves in the second half of 2012. With Stone and Parker being so heavily involved in the game, having complete control of the story, it’s hard not to get excited by these screenshots, maybe this means that, after a string of games you’ve probably never even heard of, we will finally be getting a South Park game that’s good.

Every Year hundreds of thousands of people make promises they will never keep, and though this happens all year round, it is most prevalent on New Year’s eve. There are countries that have already welcomed in the new year, not China, and, no doubt, people who have already broken their resolutions. Asking around it’s hard to find a single person who has managed to keep to such a promise, so I think I’ll stick to searching for needles in hay stacks instead.
It’s been a few years since I’ve openly admitted to a real resolution. Mostly I make them quietly, fully expecting to keep these empty promises, though ultimately forgetting them mere days into the New Year. Perhaps the problem lies in who we are making the promise for. It’s much harder to disregard a promise made to a friend than it one made to yourself, isn’t it? So this year my resolution is to you, anyone that reads this blog. I aim to make a post every day for the next year. Now remember, I may choose to give up at any time, but I have, in the past, made it to around seven months.
If I fail then I will know once and for all that keeping resolutions is not down to personal responsibility. However, if I succeed I will have proved it is and should, if my opinion and wild speculation are taken into account, be nominated for a Nobel prize, in literature or whatever I’m not picky. I’m excited about this new challenge, I had fun last time, mostly, and it’ll feel good to get back in that swing. Thanks for reading, happy New Year and don’t forget to subscribe/follow, leave a comment, click the like button and follow me on Twitter, plus, if there’s any time left, enjoy yourself.
The Dark Knight Rises is one of the most anticipated films of 2012. Fans are curious about how the franchise will end and the latest poster may be hinting at a grim conclusion.
The poster shows Bane walking away from a broken Batman helmet. While it may not mean anything, it immediately brings up the possibility that the series could break with tradition and end with the death of a hero. In the comic world, Bane, at one point, broke Batman’s back. For a while people suspected that this comic, The Man that Broke the Bat, was one of the many that inspired the movie. Broken helmet = broken bat? Then there’s the very real possibility that it’s simply an ad campaign. Think about it, how can you get emotionally invested in a character that you know is in no real danger?
For me this series has always been about taking Batman to that dark place, the place he should be, and just exploring that uncensored. It would be disappointing if Christopher Nolan went for the standard ending. That doesn’t mean I’d feel let down if Batman lives, I’ll be happy as long as they don’t keep him alive just because he’s Batman. He has to earn it.
What do you think? Do you think that the poster is just a marketing ploy? Are you excited about the film? Would you like a dark ending for the franchise? One of the weirdest families ever on TV, second only to the Addams family, are set to make a comeback. It’s The Munsters, which I literally just realised was a play on the word monsters (more evidence that my observation skills are not akin to those of Sherlock Holmes).
We live in an age were nothing is ever truly over. Bands and TV shows make dramatic comebacks after years of being thought fondly about, only to destroy their reputation with a, usually short, return. Maybe this time will be different, but probably not.
The original show was made in the 60s and followed a family of monsters that try to live normal lives and could never understand why people were afraid of them. The family was made up of Herman (the father), Lily (the mother), Eddie (the son), Marilyn (the niece) and grandpa (really you need an explanation). Each of them is a type of monster; Lily and grandpa are vampires, Eddie is a werewolf, Herman is a sort of Frankenstein’s monster and Marilyn, perhaps most frightening of all, is a human.
This new version of the show will start filming in February 2012. No cast have been announced yet, but some information about the plot has been leaked. The pilot will show ten year old Eddie, who doesn’t know he’s a werewolf, transform while on a camping trip with his school. This then forces the family to move and Eddie discovers that his family isn’t normal after all (I’m not the only one who isn’t observant). Also, Marilyn has an eating disorder; she only eats suicide victims, which sounds a really dark. This time around the show will be an hour long drama rather than a 30 minute sitcom. Oh and did I mention Bryan Singer is directing the pilot, which means it’s got to be good.
Putting scepticism aside for a second, I have to say this does sound like an interesting viewing experience, one that I will be watching at least once; to pull it apart piece by piece if it’s bad, but hopefully it will be good. Though there are a lot of examples that would suggest otherwise.
What do you think? Do you remember the original? Will you watch the pilot? Are my observation skills really not up to the Sherlock Holmes standard? Let me know by voting and leaving a comment below. Also don’t forget to subscribe/follow and click the like button.
It’s a good day to be a comic book geek as we finally get a look at the stars of two upcoming superhero movies in their costumes, English actor Henry Cavill as Superman and Anne Hathaway as Catwoman.
Though it resembles the classic Superman suit, there are some noticeable differences. The costume is darker and made of a different material, also the single curl, which is normally on Superman’s forehead, has been cut off. Having seen the reaction to the new Wonder Woman costume a few months back, I am curious about how people are reacting to the changes. Personally, I do think that the costume looks more manly and will fit the big screen better, especially considering that this movie is intended to be darker than previous Superman films.
Catwoman without any catlike features? That’s an interesting choice. If I’m not mistaken, the goggles have some sort of cat ear, but that’s about it. Since she’s on, what is speculated to be, the bat-cycle, it’s hard to judge the costume. However, if the rest of the suit is completely lacking in the feline department Nolan’s going to have some pretty disappointed fans on his hands. It’s thought that the reason pictures of Catwoman have been released is because Nolan knew paparazzi would snap a few photos while they were filming, so he beat them too it.
What do you think? Are you impressed by the costumes? Do you think they should have gone with the more classic version of the suits? Let me know by voting and leaving a comment below, also don’t forget to subscribe and click the like button.
Though both the film and book series of Harry Potter are over, the story lives on and not just in the memories and hearts of the fans, Harry’s hitting the web.
Pottermore is a site where fans of the series can go to rediscover the stories as well as read additional information that J.K. Rowling has never revealed before. It will also distribute Harry Potter eBooks and audio books. This will be the first time the series has been, legally, turned into eBooks. To a Potter fan the website is very exciting, but it won’t be officially launched until October. However, each day for seven days, five of which have already past, a clue has been put on the site. The people who solve the clue will be able to go to a different page to search for the ‘magic quill’. If they find this, they will be one of the lucky few that get to enter early and help shape the site.
Every weekday I wake up at half eight in the morning to walk my dog, but today the first thing I did was turn on the computer and check Pottermore. The clue had not been posted yet. I only learned how to try gain access to Pottermore last night, after the clue had already been and gone, so this was my first real try at getting in. As I got ready to leave, I refreshed the page many times, but still no clue. I returned from my walk, which takes about an hour, and there was still nothing. Through some quick googling, I found out that a blog had given the exact time the clue would go up on day 3, which was two days ago. As the day went by, it was announced that, in my time zone, the clue would be posted at some point between half four pm and eight pm. I didn’t trust it so I continued to refresh the page, basically every few seconds, until finally, at around six o’clock, the clue pops up.
‘What is the house number of the headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix, then multiply you answer by 21’, I almost had a heart attack when I realised the clue had appeared. Knowing that, since it was day five, the clue would be related to the Order of the Phoenix, I had the book at hand. However, I didn’t need it as that was actually one of the questioned at suspected and even said to my friend. Once I had the answer calculated, I struggled with my dad’s iPad trying to get the URL in, but it didn’t seem to want to work. My friend, seeing my frustration, used her iPhone to go to the URL. She handed me the phone which I end discarded as the iPad finally worked. I was brought to a page to search for the quill which was in such an obvious play that I thought it was just an example of what to look out for, but I clicked it and it said I had successfully found the quill. Also my friend, using the iPhone, which I’d so mindlessly dropped on the bed, also found the quill.
We were given usernames and a few hours later we both received e-mails to complete the process. Now my friend, Amy, and I have joined the ranks of people who get to see Pottermore before it officially opens. If you are trying to solve to gain access I wish you luck. Just keep on refreshing. In completely unrelated news, Amy got accepted to DCU today and is probably going to kill me for putting this in.
What do you think? Will Amy be popular among her new class? Is DCU lucky to have her? Was getting into Pottermore a bigger achievement than DCU? Let me know by voting and leaving a comment below.
The Aviva stadium was packed with Script fans all dancing while I swayed stiffly from side to side. The lucky early birds caught more than a worm, as The Coronas went on surprisingly early, around half six, and stayed on for over forty five minutes. Despite it being my first concert, I knew that opening acts don’t generally stay on that long, but I was happy they did. Next came Tinie Tempah. Though I know the majority of the people there probably love him, I’m not a fan. However, I wasn’t bored because the atmosphere was great, even though Tinie didn’t perform very well live.
After Tinie Tempah, there was a long break before The Script finally came on. The crowd screamed as the wait was finally over. Even in the seated area, the majority of the crowd stood and danced. From my seat I could see one drunken girl have to be removed before the concert even began, a guy in a lime green shirt almost suffered the same faith and four girls, all wearing the same dress, walking through the crowd narrowly missing each other, until finally two met. Oh yeah and the bands of course.
The show was great and the crowd loved it. Both The Script and Tinie Tempah played some new music, Tinie even tried to start a mosh pit to go with his new song (which is called Mosh Pit). For me the best part of the night was The Coronas. I like The Script, if I didn’t I wouldn’t have gone, but the opening acts spending so much time on stage made it feel like they were more than just openers and The Coronas stole the show, at least for me. Everything taken into account, it was a great experience and I hope to go to more concerts in the future.
